Quuppa, a global provider of Real-Time Locating Systems (RTLS), announced its first ever round of funding, worth €20 million. Quuppa’s indoor positioning technology is at the core of the Wisehockey platform.
Modern sports analytics can prove useful in unexpected ways: after the beginning of COVID-19 pandemic, Wisehockey received a request from North America to calculate the exposure time of hockey players within a two meter radius of each other.
In order to take real-time sports analytics to a new location, it’s not always required to carry out permanent installation work. Wisehockey’s new portable Quuppa locators allow setup of the automatic analytics platform anywhere, on an event site or in a sports venue.
Wisehockey’s automatic real-time hockey analytics platform was implemented in KHL league-wide last summer. Even though the 2019—2020 season was finished early due to the global pandemic, the smart puck system proved its capability in everyday use. KHL published a review of its first year with league-wide real-time statistics, and the future looks bright!
Wisehockey CEO Tomi Mikkonen explains how the automatic real-time sport analytics platform works. He also has a vision for the future of the product. Wisehockey’s success is the product of hard work and putting latest technologies to the test.
“The analytics system has been very reliable in use. I hope that some young hockey enthusiasts would step forward and start innovating new ways to use smart puck data.” The Chairman of Liiga‘s Board of Directors, Heikki Hiltunen, shared his thoughts and vision for automatic real-time hockey analytics.
